I love Golden-crowned Kinglets. At this time of year they appear in just about every corner of the city. When I ride my bicycle south to the coast, I hear their high-pitched "tsee, tsee, tsee" call in neighborhoods all along the way. Smaller than a chickadee, their hyperactive behavior matches their near continuous chatter, presumably to keep in touch with the rest of their flock.
