December 17, 2022 marks the start of the 123rd Annual Christmas Bird Count cycle. What began as a protest by Frank M. Chapman against the barbaric tradition of the Christmas "Side Hunt" has evolved into the planet's longest and wide ranging wildlife census. You can read about its history
