In the late Winter or early Spring, as the fertile soil in wooded areas begin to thaw, look for patches of small nodding, white flowers. The appropriately named
Snowdrops usually start to emerge well before the Spring Crocus. Not unlike the
tulip craze of the 17th century, a modern passion for galanthus bulbs have drive some in Europe to
steal this family of flowers. Thankfully it hasn't migrated to North America and if you go into your local city park this weekend you should be able to find some.
