For the second time in 2 years, a
Ruby-throated Hummingbird is nesting in Prospect Park. I spotted this individual purely by accident when she flew into a tree to my right. I caught a glimpse of her in my peripheral vision and watched as she used spider webs to glue nest material together. Wintering in Central America, it's hard to believe that these 2-6 gram birds flew non-stop across the Gulf of Mexico. Even harder to believe that some are heading to New York City to raise a family.
