Friday's Foto

In recent weeks I've been searching coastal Brooklyn for overwintering waterfowl and gulls. While I haven't found any unusual species I have noticed a huge increase in Red-breasted Mergansers. Flocks of over 100 individuals (sometimes a lot more) can be found everywhere from the bay off Coney Island to the ocean. This bird was photographed in Gravesend Bay.
