Long-tailed Duck is still a stunning bird. An arctic breeder, they can be found along the coast of New York throughout the winter. This individual was preening on the shore at Coney Island Creek Park early Saturday morning.
Wow. What a beauty. I never knew such a duck would be hanging out in NYC.

ReplyDeleteI live in Philadelphia, and the sightings of ducks, etc., are amazing. Although we are inland to some extent, the estuaries and rivers make this city a great place to view water fowl. Philly may nt be a bird watching paradise, but it has its moments.
