The
Ring-billed Gull is New York City's most plentiful overwintering gull and possibly the most abundant species in North America. These medium-sized gulls can frequently be seen in flocks of several hundred individuals in our city parks and all along the coast. I photographed this bird at the
Veterans Memorial Pier, near the Owl's Head Water Treatment Plant, while searching for a Black-headed Gull.
