"Brooklyn Birdathon"/International Bird Migration Day
A global event celebrating the beauty of birds and habitats. This event encourages fundraising for conservation causes. This year, in celebration of the Brooklyn Bird Club’s 100th year anniversary on June 5th, we will support the Prospect Park Alliance (PPA) in purchasing commemorative tree plantings; the Brooklyn Bird Club Team will also raise pledges and funds for buying new plants and restoring a natural area planted by BBC members and guests, which will be supervised by the Alliance’s Landscape Management Office. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated for Prospect Park--our club’s founding home--and its birds.

Come join others, including leaders Dominick, Don, Chuck, Dick and Sandra, who enjoy sharing our love of the Greenbelt with you. See rich green woodlands, wonderful distant ocean vistas and the blooming of Staten Island's flower, the Pinxter Azalea as well as Highbush Blueberry and Spring Beauties. It is ten moderate miles at a comfortable pace. Park and meet at the beginning of the Blue Line Trail at the end of Staten Island Boulevard, off Ocean Terrace by the Sunnyside campus of Petrides complex.
Bring lunch, beverage and sturdy walking shoes as well as camera, binoculars and field guides. Dress appropriately. We go in all but rough weather but the walk is shortened if high air pollution levels occur. We may detect evidence of deer visits with damage to flora.
